ANA YOUNG 15 February - 15 March 2002 Painter
Ana Young graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts (painting) from the National Art School in 2000. During the last two years Ana has developed a body of work inspired by two locations: the abandoned graveyard, Sofala, and an uninhabited farmhouse near Bourke, Western New South Wales.
The contemplative nature of these charged spaces, disintegration and hidden or imagined histories come together to inform my painting. Surfaces and their transformations combine to provide a particular sense of beauty and ambiguity, tying the man made to the surrounding landscape
